more about ghosts

my thought about the mask that i purchased is that it can be nearly purely cosmetic because i intend on making a shield to protect myself from the rocket. the mask is mysterious and expressionless which i feel adds to the overall feel that i want to create. i wanted a paintball mask but budget problems prevented that. so, i will begin work on my shield soon and post what it looks like here. any thoughts?

  1. I wonder about your desire to become expressionless... is this in some way, to distance yourself from or bring yourself to the process? I wanted to mention this earlier when you were talking about ghosts and spirits. There is something to the presences and absences of different aspects of this work and we need to explore that. For example... this blog: we have meetings in absence...in a kind of alternating presences. This, I feel, is important in relation to "action potential"; it is almost as if our name has determined our process (you have to forgive me, i just finished the Roots television series - and wonder if this is one of the seven traits that we have taken on). I think to, that the rocket's short duration (literally one second) is a reverberation of this idea. Much like the Archimedes spiral really has a counterpart which is it's mirror image, but can't be seen.

I don't think the mask is "purely cosmetic" at all. Although the first line of wikipedia's "Cosmetics" reads:

"Cosmetics are substances used to enhance or protect the appearance or odor of the human body"

  2. maybe in way i do think of the mask as an enhancement. but not only that, a Change... morphing my own face into the mask.
in short- the mask being expressionless is more of a reflection of myself rather than this project or APAE alone. but i assure you the mask is not meant to distance me from the project, i hope that the mask will bring me solidarity; being white and part of the uniforms that make up our unit.
